The Game

So That Others May Live is a genre-agnostic game about a squad of Search & Rescue personnel deployed in the wake of a disaster in the hopes of saving as many people as possible. The nature of the destruction can vary, from the natural to the supernatural, from the ancient to modern, or even from fantasy to science fiction. Whatever kind of setting is chosen, the mission remains the same:

Save lives.

Unfortunately, that's always easier said than done.

Content Warning:

This game deals directly with scenarios arising from large scale disasters, be they natural, magical, scientific, mythological, or other in origin. This means that there are certain subjects that are inherent to the game.

Suffering, trauma, and death will likely be unavoidable. Other things may come up based on the nature of the disaster in play.

We strongly suggest the use of player safety systems, such as the X Card by John Stavropoulos, the Script Change RPG Toolbox by Thoughty, and the establishment of lines & veils in the pre-session or session 0.

This game is intended to deal with the hard choices that need to be made to save as many lives as possible, not to traumatize the players.
