Honing It In

It's been just over a month since ProtoDrive's debut (make sure to check out our first race over on Captain Hurricane's YouTube if you haven't already), and we've been hard at work with testing a few ways to smooth over gameplay. There's still a long way to go with better integrating the effects of roleplay into the racing aspect, but we've made a couple of quality of life improvements that make the ride less bumpy overall:

• We've done a verbiage clean-up across several sections
• The Coast action now reduces Heat by your Fuel Mix bonus instead of twice your I/E system modifier
• Separated the Stunned condition from the Shut Down status
• Stunned now affects all driving checks, not just control checks
• Added an explanation of Degrees of Success to the Clocks section
• Added Run-Flat Tires to Bold upgrades

This means there's a new version of both the main ProtoDrive book and the reference sheet up for download, so make sure to grab that before your next race.

Keen readers of the manual will also note that we've announced our next series of car chassis that will be joining the line-up. While we don't want to promise that they'll all make the next update, we did want to put their names out there to tease a bit of the flavor of what's to come:

• DF Merlin

Something New

You'll also notice a new file on the docket: The Character Sheet! This is still in early development, and it's nowhere as clean as other systems' character building apps or pages, but any spreadsheet program should be able to import it, and it's fully set up to automate the sometimes complex math needed to play ProtoDrive, so even if it doesn't look pretty, it should help things run like butter.
